august's book of the month
a new novel has been added to the florilegium.
Dear Petals,
We’re so excited to welcome you into Florilegium, a space within The Petal Press devoted entirely to the novels that shape us and intrigue our very thinking. Each month, we’ll choose a book to read together. However, it won’t just be for its writing, but for the way it speaks to us emotionally, thematically, and creatively. This is where we’ll analyze and embrace the words and the moments that bloom between the lines.
For August, we’re transporting ourselves into a mysterious castle that grants wishes. The Florilegium welcomes Lonely Castle in the Mirror! We’ve linked two options for reading here — the Amazon link, a PDF, and a downloadable EPUB.
Through The Petal Press, we’ll explore this book not only as readers, but as creators, through creative supplements in Moss & Ink and through our community-wide discussions posts!
At the end of the month, you’re invited to contribute your responses in any form:
A poem inspired by the novel
A short essay or memory it brought to the surface
A creative piece you felt was blooming in the margins
And these responses can earn you volunteer hours! Just register as an official volunteer through here and you’ll receive an email confirming your registration in around 1-2 weeks!
